How would you like to get rewards for recycling? Well, now you can with Recycle Bank. Here's how it works: Place all of your recyclable items into one cart for curbside pickup. Your cart will have a radio frequency identification chip embedded into your family's recycling cart. This RFID chip is connected to your individual account identification code. Each week when your recycling is picked up the smart carts are scanned and weighed right at your curb. The system records the weight converts it to points which can be redeemed at hundreds of participating businesses. It is also a community based effort too. The more recycling the community does the more rewards.
Some of the reward partners are: Bed Bath & Beyond, Kiss My Face, Sears, Method, Stonyfield Farm, Kraft, Sun&Earth, Target, CVS Pharmacy, Earthbound Farm Organic, Acme, Evian, Footlocker, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Petco.
This is a great way to get more people to recycle. Everyone likes to earn rewards. This is something that the whole family can get involved in. However, the program is not yet available in all areas. You can fill out a form and Recycle Bank will contact you when it becomes in your area.
I know I really enjoy recycling. You have so much less trash when you do. I just hate to throw out paper, plastic, and glass. I just recycle all of it. It is really just a waste. We can't continue down the road of wastefulness. We have to take better care of our environment and this is one way that we can.
So, remember recycle, record, and reward.

Wow, thanks for the info. I agree that it feels good to cut trash in half, sometimes thirds. The city of Boulder, where I live, now has started a compost program--compostibles have their own bucket that gets picked up every other week. It really helps to cut down even more on food wastes.
